Site survey and requirements
Measure ceiling height, cable routes, comms room and power locations; confirm coverage scope and site constraints. Out-of-hours surveys can be arranged. Please also send a floor plan and desk layout so we can plan AP positions, cable routes and the rack location on the drawing first.

Data outlets and desk positions
Cat6/Cat6A outlets at every workstation, numbered and labelled, mapped to the patch panel port for easier moves and fault-finding later.

Structured cabling
Cable through ceiling voids, trunking or floor boxes with Cat6/Cat6A, and fibre backbone where floors or distances require it.

Rack and patch panel
19-inch rack installation and cable management, patch panel termination, patch lead dressing, port labels and a wiring schedule.

PoE switch and network hardware
Sized to the number of APs, CCTV cameras, access control and intercoms and their power draw, with ports and VLANs configured.

How the work is delivered, and how it is signed off
Six steps from survey to handover
- Site survey. Measure the space, ceiling and cable routes, record existing network kit, power and rack positions, and agree desk counts and coverage requirements.
- Design and itemised quotation. AP count and placement advice, rack and patch panel layout, equipment list, and a quotation split across five lines.
- Works scheduling. Agree working hours (nights, weekends or phased), and we handle building-management or landlord applications where required.
- Cabling and installation. Pull and terminate cable, install the rack and equipment, configure VLANs, SSIDs and firewall rules, protecting existing finishes and furniture throughout.
- Testing and sign-off. Cable-test every link, run a full Wi-Fi coverage survey, and walk the site with you, fixing anything on the spot.
- As-built handover and maintenance. Hand over drawings, port schedule and configuration; optional monthly or annual maintenance follows with monitoring and on-site support.
Practical realities of working in a live office
- Ceilings and cable routes. Suspended ceilings allow direct cabling; concrete or sealed ceilings need trunking or surface raceway — the method and appearance are agreed before quoting.
- Building management and permits. Many buildings require works applications, contractor registration and insurance documents; we handle that paperwork.
- Keeping the office running. Occupied offices are usually cabled at night, at weekends or in phases to avoid disrupting staff.
- Reusing existing cabling. We test what is already there first: links that pass are reused, with only the shortfalls replaced, avoiding unnecessary demolition.
- Power and cooling. A rack needs its own power and ventilation; where the fit-out did not allow for it, the quotation states how it will be handled.

What information should I prepare before the survey?
Ideally: (1) a floor plan or fit-out drawing of the office; (2) the desk count and layout, plus the number of rooms and meeting rooms; (3) a list of existing network equipment (router, switches, APs, rack); (4) floor area and ceiling type (suspended, concrete or sealed); and (5) the working hours available and any building-management requirements. With a floor plan we can plan AP positions and cable routes before visiting, which makes the quotation far more accurate.

Is the site survey free?
Site surveys and quotations for standard offices are free. For very large sites, night surveys, or work spanning multiple floors and comms rooms, we state the survey fee and arrangement up front so you can decide whether to proceed.
Can the quotation be itemised?
Yes — and we recommend it. The quotation has five lines: equipment, materials, labour, permits and night work, and maintenance with follow-up visits. Each line lists model, quantity, unit price and notes so you can compare and approve internally.
Can you work at night or at weekends in an occupied office?
Yes. Occupied offices are usually cabled at night, at weekends or in phases so staff are not disrupted. Where building management requires a works application or contractor registration, we prepare the paperwork and attend the coordination.
How is guest Wi-Fi separated from the staff network?
Guest traffic runs on its own VLAN and SSID, entered through a captive portal or a separate passphrase, with no access to internal systems, servers or NAS. The staff network can be split further by department with QoS applied.
Can we upgrade only part of an existing office network?
Yes. We test existing cabling and Wi-Fi coverage first: links that pass are retained and reused, and only the shortfalls are replaced — with the reason for each change stated in the quotation.
Do you take on small offices with around 10 desk positions?
Yes. A ten-desk office is a routine size for us; quotations are based on desk count, ceiling and cable-route conditions and equipment choice, and you can start with a baseline scope and add APs or subnets later.
